The Grade 2 students had a fabulous day at the Royal Botanical Gardens. They participated in the 'Connecting to country' program which emphasized on diversity and examined sustainable land practices used by the Aboriginal people.

Students had the opportunity to make and use ochre paint, participate in the 'Smoking Ceremony', make string bracelets and a hands-on exploration of tools like didgeridoos and possum skins. Students had an enjoyable experience and had the chance to take home their wonderful artifacts they had made.

Grade 2 Reptile Incursion

We have been studying different animals within our literacy lessons by writing information reports about them. Our students were extremely excited when they had reptiles visit them at school. This experience advanced the students knowledge on how different reptiles move, special diets they have and their predators. Students were provided with the opportunity to be up close and handle the reptiles freely. Our 'brave' students enjoyed the cuddles from the snakes, lizards and frogs too.

3A's Indoor Athletics Carnival

On a cold rainy day when we couldn't play outside and measurement lessons were sounding dreary, we decided to have our own athletics carnival. Some of the races were straw javelin, cotton ball shot-put and paper clip blowing. Lots of fun was had by all and we learnt about length and conversions along the way!

We had an interesting maths lesson where we had fun games using our rulers and measuring. It didn't matter if we won or not. I have learnt more about measurement and length.

Elif Tanriverdioglu

My favourite part was the paper clip blowing and it was very fun because every time you got a different length. I learnt that one meter is 100cm and 1cm is 10mm. I will never forget these facts now. It has given me ideas about what I can play when I am bored indoors with my family and friends. I hope we play games like this more often!

Grade 5 Sovereign Hill Camp

On the 18th of May Grade 5 girls went to Sovereign Hill. Upon arrival, we made our way to our rooms and left our bags. We first had lunch at the New York bakery and then took part in some candle dipping. Our candles turned out fantastic! The best part was the night show, as we were outside most of the time. The theatre show allowed us to understand the Eureka uprising and the events that unfolded prior and after. We even had more fun at night as we did not sleep until lateThe gold pour demonstration was also very exciting as Amira had a chance to hold a gold bullion worth over $200,000, wow!! We were all amazed at how fantastic it looked. We really enjoyed the gold panning as well. Ms Guldem ended up finding some gold and handing it out to students. Thanks Ms Guldem Overall we had a fantastic time.
